Day at Sea

Greece • June 17, 2026 • Day 7 of 16

Today we made our way by ferry from Athens to Naxos.

🏝️ Fun Fact: The Cyclades get their name from the Greek word kyklos (circle), because the islands form a rough circle around the sacred island of Delos — birthplace of the god Apollo.

Eurochampion Jet

We boarded the Eurochampion at 9:30 and there were 5 stops on our way to Naxos. The Athens port is called Piraeus. From there, we went to Syros – Tinos – Mykonos – Paros – and then Naxos. We disembarked around 2:30. On our way from the ferry to our hotel (the Galaxy), we saw the Temple of Apollo, which we should be able to visit tomorrow morning.

Afternoon Free Time

Savvas gave us the afternoon to ourselves, so we found a little market to purchase a few snacks, and then dropped off our laundry. Our hotel is right off the beach, so sitting by the infinity pool, I was able to have Mykonos in front of me, and Santorini at my back (truly incredible)!

Hurmas

We had a wonderful second floor view of the Naxos harbor for dinner.

After dinner, we were able to take some pictures of the sunset, and later saw some really beautiful stars (Venus and Jupiter, with the moon right in between them).

What's Next

Tomorrow we were originally scheduled to go sailing, but the conditions/winds are too rough, so we are going to do a cooking class instead. Before that, we plan to stop at the Temple of Apollo (which is really a gate). It is the best place on the island to get sunrise/sunset photos.
